Reunion - France
This work represents an old house abandoned in a forest, still existing on Reunion Island, like a temple of a lost civilization left hanging. hence the title "nature takes over"..."I have grown up on the Reunion island and I have started drawing very early. As a child, I try to copy Boris Vallejo's illustrations and I dream of studying fine art’s, but there is no art school on my island. Once an adult, I find a job, start a family, but I keep drawing , between two household chores, two nappy changes, before and after work... I travel my island, again and again, with a biro in my pocket, and I sketch, I also take a lot of photos… I never get tired of the wonderful sights that my island offers : their abundance, their opulence, their generosity…. Here a waterfall, there a hut, the pattern of a branch, a perspective, ideal getaways …. 1999 … an enchanted break for me. My husband's job takes me and family to Paris for a few months, and I present my work at the Gobelins, the famous French Visual Arts school … I am 35 then and they give me the opportunity to train in layout and design for the 1st time in my life. Back on my island, I know who I am and what I want to do and to be. It obviously becomes my muse, my inspiration; I want to discover it constantly, to make it known, to contemplate it, to safeguard it. Today, even though I am modestly installed, even though I don’t have a real workshop, even though I still use my humble, small, flat, house as a workshop, I still fill hundreds of A4 sheets, with landscapes drawn with my black biro and where Nature reigns supreme. I opt for black and white because what is paramount / essential to me in this scenery is light. The light, alone, as in the film ""The Night of the Hunter"" by Charles Laughton with Robert Mitchum for example or also in ""Princes and Princesses"" by Michel Ocelot … My aim? Not to get overwhelmed by the colours too easily… to concentrate on the richness of the contrasts and shapes. In the future, I would 1st like to enhance my black-and-white A4 drawings in 2 ways. I plan to partly colour some of them. But I am also thinking of scanning them in very high definition and print them as very high-quality black-and-white A0 photos. Finally, I am planning to set up a studio that will allow me to produce large formats but also to exhibit my work, receive the public as well as students. I imagine it as a very open space, where you don't really know if you are inside or outside.
"The Mirror of the Past pushes us to reflect on our promises: are we living up to them?

"Promises of the Past" is a serene and contemplative painting that invites reflection on past promises. Soft, muted colors create a dreamy atmosphere, with a majestic mountain and intricate details representing the solid foundation of past promises. A meandering stream symbolizes the journey of life, while the setting sun signifies the passage of time. The tranquil natural world encourages introspection, prompting the viewer to evaluate whether past promises have been fulfilled or faded like the light. The painting's calming effect makes it a perfect representation of the theme, encouraging contemplation and self-reflection.
I am a emerging fine artist from Pakistan, currently pursuing my undergraduate studies in Fine Arts at Fatima Jinnah Women University. My artistic practice explores the intricate relationships between nature, identity, and social justice, with a focus on environmental sustainability. In this painting I wanted to express the emotions that a musician can experience when he plays his instrument and the way in which he lets himself go through the sounds and the groove
"A self-taught painter from Reunion, Jimmy was born on November 2, 1972. He draws his energy from these roots, through his culture, through his music.
Jimmy introduces us to his pictorial universe between figurative and surrealism from which Creolity emanates as well as his love of music lying on recycled materials loaded with meaning... witnesses of the past and present... goni, rusty sheet metal, paper. "

“Forest 2” depicts towering trees stretching up towards the sky – their branches yearning to touch the heavens, capturing the undulating beauty of nature, adding an ethereal quality, evoking a sense of peace and tranquility of the forest at night – dark and alluring.
The white and black strokes create a contemplative atmosphere, capturing the pulse of life in the forest, as if the colors drenched themselves in blood. The fiery reds, the eyes of the forest are heightened by the faint white strokes in the background, serving as an ode to both power and fragility."

A piece inspired by the poem "Il Volo" (The Flight) by Italian poet Viviana Zanoboni. It captures the essence of liberty and life’s connection, depicting a gentle ascent to the heavens where time lingers and the sound of insects fills the air. Carlos Julio Correa Molinares (Barranquilla, 1962) is a Colombian businessman, writer, and poet who has published some books. In his writings and artworks, he endeavors to leave his unique mark, making his creations as original as possible, reflecting his perspective on life and the world. He advocates for friendly progress, not the destruction of the environment and ecosystem. He respects the natural order, believing that everything should be in its rightful place.
Life moves towards a future that attempts to destroy the ecosystem, a future we have already seen and read about in various movies and texts from the past, so in reality, the future should not surprise us because it is an old acquaintance; I can say it is an old future. Through BIAEF, we have the opportunity to express our defense of a better future.

The beauty of nature and tranquility is what makes us feel so good. In this serene and natural environment, we can put aside our worries and stresses for a moment and enjoy the sunshine as much as possible. At the same time, it also teaches us a profound lesson. We should cherish the blessings of nature's generosity and appreciate the beauty of the world with a sensitive mind. We can appreciate the gifts of nature better when we are completely immersed in this serene condition of life.

"The charcoal drawing captures a trio of women engaged in a musical performance, exuding a sense of peace and concentration. The central figurecradles a veena, a classical Indian instrument, with her eyes gently closed as her fingers strum the strings. Her immersion in the music is palpable, evoking a deep connection between the musician and her instrument.
To her left, another woman, with a composed demeanor, seems to be listening to the melody or possibly adding her voice to the harmony. The rightmost figure skillfully dancing on that veena. her focused gaze upon the instrument, suggesting a moment of intense musical dialogue. Each woman's traditional attire is elegantly portrayed, with the folds of their garments flowing naturally, adding a dynamic contrast to the stillness of their faces.
The background fades into darkness, allowing the figures to emerge with a luminous quality, as if the music itself is casting an ethereal glow. This interplay of light and shadow gives the drawing a three-dimensional feel, highlighting the delicate textures of fabric and the expressive hands of the musicians. The overall atmosphere is one of timeless elegance and the universal language of music rendered in shades of gray." "At the heart of my artistic practice is an exploration of female beauty and motion. By capturing moments of mid-motion, I aim to create an illusion of fluidity and grace.
My work delves into a profound contemplation of isolation, set against the backdrop Of this beauty and motion. Each captured mid-motion moment serves as a poignant reminder of the solitary journey each individual undertakes. Within the fluidity of movement lies an isolating sensation, echoing the profound solitude inherent in existence. Through my compositions, I accentuate this isolation, inviting viewers to confront the solitary nature of human experience. Amidst the depicted drama and tension, there is a subtle portrayal of the loneliness that often accompanies the human condition. Yet, within this isolation, there is also a profound opportunity for introspection and self- discovery. As viewers immerse themselves in the transient nature of movement, they are compelled to confront their own solitude, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all beings. Within the realms of isolation and motion, my art endeavors to reveal the delicate balance between solitude and connection, inviting viewers to embrace both the beauty and complexity of the human spirit."

I have used graphite to study the linear intricacy of the traditional straw chaabi used for keeping bread…These baskets convey the importance of nourishment, the primal quest in the circle of life. The tattered edges are symbolic of the natural decay that is an inseparable part of life. Grey areas hug the central disc. These represent shadows – shadows that embody the lingering effects of trauma, stored in memory long after the traumatic event has passed. I'm Farooque Ali Chandio from district Dadu sindh, Pakistan.
I Born in 1982 in Dadu (Pakistan).

The 21st BIEAF2024 'Old Future' is likely an intriguing event focusing on themes of nostalgia, retrospection, or perhaps the juxtaposition of old and new in the context of the future. It could explore how past visions of the future compare to our current reality, or how historical influences shape our future outlook. The theme itself prompts reflection on how societies and individuals perceive time, progress, and innovation.
